Our Story
Boxwood A.D.R. was founded in 2013 from a question that had lingered for years: Why has architecture and design, unlike other industries, not yet entered the industrial age? In an era where almost everything has been modernised, design remains bound to a workshop-like process—handcrafted, slow, and labour-intensive. Yet, within this process, there lies an art, a beauty, and untapped potential for transformation.
The journey began in 2001 when our founder first studied architecture and felt that something essential was left unspoken in traditional design approaches. Patterns existed, rules whispered in the design of spaces, yet they were seldom discussed. This desire to uncover these hidden logics and decode the secret language of design laid the foundation of Boxwood A.D.R.
At Boxwood A.D.R., we are not only crafting spaces; we are creating experiences. Each environment we design—whether a building, a landscape, or a virtual world—breathes with its own atmosphere, resonating deeply with those who inhabit them. This philosophy became the foundation of our founder’s doctoral work and further research projects into the relationship between environment and emotion, exploring how and why subtle environmental cues evoke emotional responses. Our research into design logic led us to embrace the power of AI. By integrating AI with our research, we enhance every phase of the creative process, accelerating the process of design, pushing the boundaries of possibility, and unlocking new frontiers in design innovation.
Our fascination with design extends into other forms of art—whether in fashion or fragrance—each an art of coordination that, like spatial design, focuses on crafting feelings through the balance of fabric textures or the subtle layering of scents.
